Clerk of Courts
The Clerk of Courts serves as the clerk of the Clairmont County Court of Common Pleas, including the General, Domestic Relations, and Probate/Juvenile divisions, and also operates the county’s deputy registrar Auto Title Division on behalf of the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. The office maintains case files, dockets, and judgment records, and collects court costs and fines on behalf of the court.

Legal Division
The Legal Division dockets and maintains records for civil, criminal, domestic relations, probate, and juvenile matters filed in Common Pleas Court. Common Pleas Judge Hon. Alan B. Teeters presides over the General and Domestic Relations dockets; Judge Hon. Karen Spivey presides over the Probate and Juvenile divisions. Case filings, judgment entries, and civil judgment liens may be searched at the public terminal in Room 101 during business hours. Certified copies of case documents are $2.00 per page, with a $2.00 certification fee per document.
Auto Title Division
The Auto Title Division issues and transfers Ohio certificates of title for automobiles, trucks, motorcycles, and manufactured homes, and processes duplicate title and lien notations. The title office is located separately from the courthouse.

A physical inspection may be required on out-of-state titles and reconstructed or salvage vehicles before a new Ohio title can be issued. Manufactured homes require a certificate of tax payment from the Treasurer before transfer.
Jury Service
The Clerk’s office administers the jury commission and mails jury summonses drawn from the Board of Elections’ voter registration list and BMV driver records. Residents summoned for jury duty should follow the reporting instructions printed on their summons; requests to postpone or be excused must be submitted in writing at least seven days before the reporting date, except in cases of emergency.
Passports
The Legal Division accepts passport applications by appointment as an authorized U.S. State Department acceptance facility. Applicants should call ahead to confirm current fees and required documentation, as federal passport fees are set by the State Department and change periodically.
