County Engineer
The County Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of 388 miles of county roads and 214 bridges, provides engineering services to the twelve townships, and maintains the county’s tax maps and GIS base layers in cooperation with the Auditor.

Driveway & Road Use Permits
A driveway permit from this office is required before constructing or altering any access onto a county road; township road access is permitted by the township trustees. Note that a driveway permit is separate from any building or grading permit required by Building & Development Services — new home construction typically requires both.

County plow routes are prioritized by traffic volume; school bus routes are treated first. To report a hazardous road condition, call (740) 555-4650 during business hours or the Sheriff’s non-emergency line (740) 555-4670 after hours.
