Recorder warns of deed-copy solicitation scam
County Recorder Dennis Whitlatch is warning property owners of a mailing being sent by a private company offering, for a fee of $89 or more, to provide a copy of their recorded deed. The company is not affiliated with Clairmont County, and the same document is available from the Recorder's office for a nominal statutory copy fee.
Property owners who receive such a solicitation are under no obligation to respond and may contact the Recorder's office directly at (740) 555-4634 to obtain a certified copy of any recorded document at the standard per-page rate.
